Protea Speciality Chemicals is a national business and a major division of Protea Chemicals, a division of Omnia (Pty) Ltd.  Its head office is in Germiston, near Johannesburg, but Protea Speciality Chemicals also has a significant presence in all of the important South African commercial centres including Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. All four of the warehouse and office sites are ISO 9002 accredited.

Protea Speciality Chemicals can trace its origins back some 50 years to a chemical agency business which traded as John Beith. It is essentially an agency-driven business which today represents twenty of the world’s foremost chemical companies on an exclusive basis. These relationships extend over many years and a few go back almost to the advent of the Protea Speciality Chemicals business. Apart from exclusive agency agreements, however, Protea Speciality Chemicals also has formal and exclusive distributor and supply arrangements with an equal number of extremely important players on the world chemical stage. These supply arrangements, whether of an agency or distributorship nature, centre on an intense service ethic to customers, which sees Protea Speciality Chemicals as the extension of the principal’s marketing arm.
